About Jim

A practical and experienced approach to change

I’m Jim, a qualified CBT therapist providing cognitive behavioural therapy to adults in Wiltshire and online across the UK.

Before becoming a therapist, I served in the Royal Air Force for more than 30 years. This included working at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, where I was an instructor and Foundation Course Manager.

During my RAF career, I delivered Stress, Resilience and Wellbeing courses to Ministry of Defence employees across Europe. This gave me extensive experience of supporting people to understand stress, strengthen their resilience and make positive changes to their wellbeing.

I now use this experience alongside my professional CBT training to support adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, low confidence and low self-esteem. I also work with people who may not identify with a particular diagnosis but know that they feel stuck or want to enjoy life more.

My approach is practical, supportive and focused on the changes you want to make. Therapy is not about being judged or told what to do. It is a collaborative process shaped around your experiences, needs and goals.

What working with me is like

CBT focuses on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Together, we will explore the difficulties you are facing, identify patterns that may be maintaining them and consider changes that could improve your day-to-day wellbeing.

Sessions are purposeful but supportive. We will agree what you want to work towards and review your progress as therapy develops.

The goal is not simply to help you cope with a difficult moment, but to help you develop knowledge and strategies you can continue using beyond our sessions.

Therapy that fits around your life

I offer online CBT for clients across the UK, giving you the flexibility to attend sessions from a private and comfortable location.

Where possible, I encourage an initial face-to-face session because it can be a helpful way to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable working relationship. However, online therapy is available from the outset if that is more accessible or convenient for you.
